A VASP means a person approved under Import and Export Ordinance (Cap. 60), Dutiable Commodities Ordinance (Cap. 109), Reserved Commodities Ordinance (Cap. 296), Industrial Training (Clothing Industry) Ordinance (Cap. 318) and Protection of Non-Government Certificates of Origin Ordinance (Cap. 324) to transmit, on behalf of another person, any specified information using the specified system, that is, Trade Single Window system.
Six classes of specified information namely:
- Advance Cargo Information (Road);
- Bundling information (Road);
- Cargo Manifest;
- Certificate of Origin;
- Import / Export Declaration (TDEC); and
- Permit for Dutiable Commodities.
Application for the approval as a VASP is open now. Any person who is interested in becoming a VASP shall submit an application according to the applicable practice guidelines to the Customs and Excise Department. Upon approval, a VASP may transmit specified information using the specified system on behalf of another person in mid-2027.
